Story of Sringeri:

Adi Shankaraacharya came to Sringeri which is the bank of the Tunga River. He saw an unusual sight over there. He saw that a Cobra spread out its hood over a frog in labour pains, to give shadow from the scorching sun. Impressed with the place where natural enemies had gone beyond their instincts, he choose to setup a math here. He spend 12 years of his life of 32 years. This is enough to know how holy is this place.

Walk through Sringeri Temple:

Sringeri temple starts with propsed Raja Gopuram (under construction of seven story ,128 feet height). Next to this entrance, there is SWAGATHA KARYALAYAM which helps Saradamba devotees for accommodation and other stuff.

Torana Ganapathi Temple: Around 400 years ago, Sringeri temple was under threat from pretty rulers as they want to establish themself. The responsibility of saving the temple fell on the Jagadguru Sri Narisimha Bharati. When he was in meditation he heard a voice within, which directed to pray the God nearest to him. The Jagadguru searched and found a form of Lord Ganesha on the threshold above his head, literally the Torana of the door. Then he completed a ritual of consecration in which the consciousness or power of the Lord Ganesha is brought into the Torana ,door,  to awake the icon in Sringeri temple.
Since then It became custom for devotees and pilgrims visiting Sringeri, to first have darshana of Sri Torana Ganapati and only then proceed to have the darshana of Sri Sharadamba and the various deities and the Jagadguru.

Sri Sharadamba Temple:

The Sharada temple, dedicated to the Goddess of learning and wisdom, has grown from a simple shrine dating to the time of Adi Shankaracharya.Original Murti of Sharada made of sandalwood, installed over the Sri Chakra that Sri Adi Shankara carved on a rock.Subsequently Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha and Sri Vidyaranya (10th and 11th Jagadgurus) had a temple built in the Kerala style, with timber and tiled roof. Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha substituted the sandalwood idol with the present golden idol.\
Darshan Timings: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9.00 PM

Sri Sureshwaraacharya Temple:

This temple is situated at south side of Sharadamba Temple.
Sri Sureshwaracharya is the first Jagadguru of Sringeri Sharada petham. He was elder to the preceptor, contrary to the normal age relation that exists between a preceptor and his disciple. It is an interesting fact that Sri Sureshwaracharya(then known as Mandana Misra) beame a disciple of Sri Adi Shankaracharya after a defeat in polemical combat of withs. Yet it was a very successful failure. He took the defeat in all humility. He became a most sincere and true disciple.

Sri Janardhana Temple:

Outside the Shrine of Sri Janardhana Temple, attached to the navaranga are the shrines of Sri Hanuman and Sri Garuda. Garuda, the vahana or vehicle of Lord Narayana stands to the north of the shrine with His hands folded in earnest devotion to the Lord. Unlike most shrines of Lord Vishnu, Garuda faces east, rather than the Lord, which is unique to this temple.Anjaneya, the mighty valorous monkey God, stands to the south of the shrine of Sri Janardana swami.
Darshan Timings: 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Sri Vidyashankara Temple:

The Vidyashankara Temple was built in the year 1338 A.D. It is a unique monument built entirely of stone combining both Chalukya and Dravidian architectural styles. The structure stands on a high plinth and commands a magnificent view from the hills and their slopes all round. It is more or less a rectangle with apisidal east-west ends. On the western side is the Garbhagriha, with Vidya Ganapati on one side and Durga on the other side of the entrance.

On the other three sides of the Garbhagriha are shrines to Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara with their consorts. In the eastern half of the structure is a mandapa with twelve pillars, huge monoliths carrying large figures and carrying heavy projecting corbels on top. These twelve pillars are marked by the twelve signs of the zodiac in their regular order, and arranged in such a manner that the rays of the sun fall on each of them in the order of the twelve solar months. On the floor is a large circle, marked with converging lines to indicate the direction of the shadows. The central ceiling is an exquisite piece of workmanship with lotus and pecking parrots.

The vimana over the Garbhagriha rises magnificiently with sikhara, mahapadama and stupi. The rest of the roof is made up of sloping channelled slab. The basement is elaborately sculpted with animals, puranic stories, Siva, Vishnu, Dasavatara, Kali, Shanmukha and so on. From the caves of the corners of the central hall chains of stone rings hang which is a common feature of the Vijayanagar period.

To the student of Hindu iconography, this temple is a veritable store house of sculpture. The meditation of the Linga (Vidya Shankara Linga) in the sanctum and other Murtis will lead to Divine realization.
Darshan Timings: 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Sri Vidya Theertha Sethu:
Its bridge across the river Tunga to pass from Temple to Ashramam.

Sri Kappe Shankara Temple:

The name Sringeri is derived from Rishyashringa-giri, the hermitage of Rishi Vibhandaka and his son Rishyashringa. Rishyashringa appears in an episode in the Bala-Kanda of the Ramayana where a story, narrated by Vasishtha, relates how he brought rains to the drought-stricken kingdom of Romapada.

Adi Shankaracharya selected the site as the place to stay and teach his disciples, because when he was walking by the Tunga river, he saw a cobra with a raised hood, providing shelter from the hot sun, to a frog about to spawn. Impressed with the place where natural enemies had gone beyond their instincts, he stayed here for twelve years. The above picture depicts the story of Sringeri
